End-of-Life Announcements

The maintenance of the products delivered with the Governikus Suite and the Base Services is basically done as follows:

• Major releases (x.0.0): Major releases are maintained for 2 years (maintenance of functionality, minor improvements).
  In the first year, support is provided in the form of software maintenance (delivery of hotfixes or workarounds, patches and minor releases) and services for ongoing operations.
  In the second year, support is provided exclusively in the form of operational support/services (informative support, error analysis and recommendations, delivery of configurations).
  Note: Code changes within the scope of software maintenance can only be made as long as: legal framework conditions, specifications or standards do not require massive changes that are only possible in newer systems with reasonable effort, the software used is supported by third-party manufacturers or procedures for proof of conformity, evaluation or confirmation are valid.
• Minor releases (0.x.0): Minor releases do not extend the software maintenance or operational support of the current major release.
• Bug fixes (0.0.x): Bug fixes do not extend the software maintenance or operational support of the current major release.

The EoLs of the published releases of the Governikus Suite with the products DATA Deneb, DATA Varuna, COM Tauri, COM Despina can be found in the following table:

*1.0.0. EoL software maintenance and operational support version 1.0.0 with provision of version 2.0.0. Reason: Extensive changes to the ETSI-TS/EN in the context of the eIDAS Regulation.

*2.0.0 EoL software maintenance and operational support version 2.0.0 with provision of version 4.0.0. Reason: Far-reaching changes to the ETSI-TS/EN in the context of the eIDAS Regulation and RTS introduction at COM Despina. Support will end on 26.01.22 at the latest.

* 5.3.0 Full delivery as a minor release, which establishes a new software maintenance and operational support period in addition to the EoL agreement (analogous to a major release).

*5.7.0 Full delivery as a minor release, which establishes a new software maintenance and operational support period in addition to the EoL agreement (analogous to a major release).

**5.7.0 Due to the transition to JBoss 8 with Governikus Suite 6.0.0, software maintenance for Governikus Suite 5.7.0 will end on June 30, 2025 instead of November 29, 2024. This extension covers security updates. Operational support remains unchanged and ends on 29.11.2025.

Governikus ID Panstar is not part of the Governikus Suite and is delivered separately. However, the procedure described for the products of the Governikus Suite basically applies to the maintenance of ID Panstar. The EoLs of the published releases of ID Panstar can be found in the following table:

Governikus ID Mercury, Serviceaccount, SCIM-Manager are not part of the Governikus Suite and are delivered separately. For the maintenance of ID Mercury, Serviceaccount, SCIM-Manager, however, the procedure described for the products of the Governikus Suite applies in principle.

The maintenance of the software is basically carried out as follows: Additions of new functionalities as well as the maintenance of functionality and the elimination of errors are always based on the last published release status. An adjustment of previous releases does not take place.

The maintenance of functionality and the elimination of errors that prevent use is always carried out for the latest major version (x.0.0) or minor version (y.x.0). The delivery of hotfixes or workarounds, patches and updates is based on the latest published patch (y.y.x) or minor version (y.y.x). Governikus ensures that patches are downward compatible.

As a prerequisite for the maintenance of the software, code changes can only be made as long as legal framework conditions, specifications or standards do not require massive changes, which are only possible with reasonable effort in newer systems, and only as long as the software used is supported by third-party manufacturers, or as long as procedures for proof of conformity, evaluation and confirmation are valid.
