ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) is a non-profit institute with the aim of creating uniform standards throughout Europe in the field of telecommunications. It was founded in 1988 on the initiative of the European Commission. The Institute has 655 members from over 50 countries, including network operators, service providers, administrations, users and manufacturers. The Institute is based in Sophia Antipolis near Nice (France).
