The ID card makes it easy to deal with the authorities online - but there are a few things to bear in mind. For almost nine years now, since November 1, 2010, citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany have been issued with ID cards in check card format. In addition to meeting the highest security standards in the world, the new ID card offers the option of completing some official procedures online. An integrated chip stores personal data such as photo, name, address and signature. By reading the chip, you can confirm your identity online.
