The IT Planning Council has appointed Annette Schmidt as President of the Federal IT Cooperation (FITKO). Kommune21 spoke with her about the tasks of FITKO and the state of affairs regarding the Online Access Act (OZG).

Dr. Schmidt, on January 1, 2020, FITKO will officially begin its work. What does the scope of duties include?

FITKO will take over the various business and coordination offices of the IT Planning Council until the end of 2021. As of January 1, the FIM - Federal Information Management office will join us. On July 1, we will take over the business office of the IT Planning Council. The GovData and 115 offices will follow at a later date. The coordination and management tasks for the German Administrative Services Directory (DVDV) and Governikus will also be performed by FITKO in the future. This means that the main coordination functions will be bundled in FITKO. In addition, we are already busy with strategic and conceptual matters, such as considerations for federal IT architecture management and, together with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, in program management for implementing the Online Access Act.
