Online digital state

The aim of register modernization is to enable administrations in Germany to work digitally and networked at all federal levels. The Register Modernization Act has been in place since 2021. On its basis, public administration services are to be offered according to the once-only principle, with evidence only being transmitted once. The National Once-Only Technical System (NOOTS) provides the underlying technical architecture and the overall project and the lead agencies are working to ensure that register modernization progresses. The current status will be discussed on this day and the following questions will be considered:

  • What are the advantages of register modernization for citizens and the administration itself?
  • How is project governance structured?
  • Which registers will be digitized/established first?
  • How is Germany connecting to the EU OOTS? What is the procedure for setting up the infrastructure?
  • The overall project also has a legal program area - what legal adjustments will be necessary?
  • Is the discussion about the selection of the tax ID as an identity code over?
  • What options does the data protection cockpit offer citizens?
  • What is in store for the municipalities?
  • How can municipalities prepare?

In addition to Governikus, many other speakers will take part in the panel discussion.
