6.7.2       Key selection

Select a key on this dialog page. You can either select password-based decryption or decryption with a private key, which is taken from a keystore or from a signature card.

Encryption with password

If you select password-based decryption you are prompted for a password on the last dialog page "Decrypt".

Note

Note: Please mind that this password must be same that was previously used for encryption.

Decryption with private key

Select the private keys that you want to use for decrypting files. If you possess several keystores and you have sent various business partners different public keys it is important here to know, which of the public keys were used for encryption in order to allow you selecting the appropriate private key.

·     Button directory Load key from file: Click on this symbol, if you want to upload a private key from file and navigate to the directory that contains the key. You must load a keystore whose filename must end with the suffix p12 or pfx. A keystore contains a software certificate and the required pair of keys for decryption.

·     smart card icon Signature card: This option is only displayed in case a card reader is connected and a signature card is inserted. Below the symbol the card readers name is displayed as recognised by Governikus DATA Boreum. You can connect up to 10 card readers. In case you want to connect more card readers please read the document about system requirements. A signature card holds an encryption certificate with private and public key. Select the signature card for using the private key contained on the card for decryption.

Note

Note: If symbols of card readers are greyed out in the dialog section "Storage location of key" they are not selectable. If you want to use a signature card, you must insert it into a connected card reader. After the card reader has read-in the signature card the symbol is no longer greyed out and selectable.

After selecting a key its name is displayed in the dialog section below. A keystore or signature card can contain several keys. If so, you must select exactly one key from the list.

·     Icon Mangifier : The displayed key belongs to a certificate that you can display by clicking on this magnifier symbol. You can either

-      End the certificate display with the OK button Button OK or

-      Save it as a file with the save Button Save button.

-      Use the certificate-symbol button Button Validate to execute an online validation of the certificate. The inspection sheet is displayed in a separate window.

Default

As explained in chapter 6.3 you can save the settings on this page as default. If you use the navigation arrows in the lower right area of the dialog in later decrypting calls, this dialog is omitted. However, the default is ignored in case the saved key is no longer available.
